(Felddienstzeichen 1840 Miniatur in Gold). Instituted 14 June 1840 by Grand Duke Ludwig II. (1840-1966 issue). Constructed of 14k Gold, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a central wreathed monogram of Grand Duke Ludwig II, situated above an inscription of “GESTIFTET AM 14. JUNI 1840” (“INSTITUTED ON THE 14TH OF JUNE 1840”), the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “FÜR TREUEN DIENSTE IM KRIEGE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN WAR”), unmarked, measuring 12.26 mm in diameter, weighing 1.6 grams, in extremely fine condition.
