Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Gothic Cross Pattée, the obverse with a central inscription of “FÜR PFLEGE SOLDATEN 1914” (“FOR THE CARE OF SOLDIERS 1914”), the reverse with a central monogram of Ludwig III, with an inscription of “DEN 25TEN AUGUST 1870”, measuring 43.57 mm (w) x 48.81 mm (h), weighing 14.5 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
