Hohenzollern, State. A House Order of Hohenzollern SIlver Merit Medal with Swords, c.1914 
                (Hausorden von Hohenzollern) Instituted 1866. Type II. A circular medal constructed of silver, the obverse centre bears a crowned cipher “FC” (Friedrich und Carl), circumscribed with “DEN 1 JANUAR 1842” bordered with a wreath of oak and laurel leaves tied with a ribbon at the bottom, the reverse bears the coat of arms of Hohenzollern circumscribed with “FÜR TREUE UND VERDIENSTE” (FOR FAITH AND MERIT), bordered with a wreath of oak and laurel leaves tied with a ribbon at the bottom, with crossed sword suspension, measuring 32.40 mm (w) x 45.86 mm (h), with loop for suspension on a black and white striped ribbon, very fine.
