(Kriegsehrenkreuz für heldenmütige Tat). Constructed of gilded bronze, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with pebbled arms, bearing a central raised Lippe rose surrounded by a circular laurel wreath, the three and nine o’clock arms bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR HELDENMÜTIGE TAT” (“FOR HEROIC DEEDS”), the six o’clock arm bearing a date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm bearing the monogram of Prince Leopold IV, the reverse with a wide block hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 46.38 mm (w) x 45.40 mm (h), weighing 25.2 grams, very fine.
