Lippe. A Prussia-Lippe Medal Bar with Three Medals, Awards, and Decorations
A medal bar with three medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of 1) An Iron Cross 1914 Second Class; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; on loop for suspension; the obverse with a raised central “W”, with the re-institution date “1914” in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm; the reverse with a central oak-leaf branch consisting of three oak leaves, with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbers on the lower arm, a raised Prussian crown on the upper arm, with “FW” in equally raised lettering directly below; measuring 43.02 mm (w) x 42.99 mm (h). 2) A Lippe War Merit Cross (Kriegsverdienstkreuz); constructed of bronze gilt; the obverse depicting the Lippian rose within an open-ended laurel wreath - the twelve o’clock arm of the cross with a crowned cipher of Leopold, the six o’clock arm dated “1914”; the reverse inscribed “Für Auszeichnung im Kriege” (German - For Merit at War); measuring 40.77 mm (w) x 40.65 mm (h). 3) A 20-Year Milita Long Service Cross - First Class for Officers (Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung, 1. Klasse für 20 Dienstjahre). A silver cross pattée; the obverse with a central silver-gilt medallion bearing the crowned cipher of King Wilhelm I, the reverse also with a central silver-gilt medallion inscribed “XX” (Roman - 20); on a loop for suspension; measuring 38.07 mm (w) x 37.71 mm (h); non-magnetic core; horizontal pinback, measuring 112 mm (w) x 43 mm (h); in overall near very fine condition.
