Lippe-Detmold, Principality. A War Honour Medal for Non-Combatants
(Kriegs-Ehrenmedaille für Nichtkämpfer). Instituted 25 October 1915 by Prince Leopold IV. (1915-1921 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original non-combatant’s ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, overlaid by a central wreathed Lippe rose, topped by the monogram of Prince Leopold IV and situated above a date of “1914”, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “TREUE BEWÄHRT IN SCHWERER ZEIT 1915” (“PROVEN LOYALTY IN DIFFICULT TIMES 1915”), unmarked, measuring 33.41 mm (w) x 36.58 m (h), weighing 17.1 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
