Lippe, Principality. A War Merit Cross
(Kriegsverdienstkreuz). Constructed of bronze gilt; the obverse depicting the Lippian rose within an open-ended laurel wreath - the twelve o’clock arm of the cross with a crowned cipher of Leopold, the six o’clock arm dated “1914”; the reverse inscribed “Für Auszeichnung im Kriege” (German - For Merit at War); measuring 40.87 mm (w) x 40.88 mm (h); weighing 19.4 grams; in overall near extremely fine condition.
