(Militär-Dienstkreuz für 12 Dienstjahren). Instituted 1 July 1846 by Grand Duke George. (1846-1872 issue). Constructed of gilded and silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with a central monogram of Grand Duke George, the reverse with a central number “12” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 37.00 mm (w) x 41.78 mm (h), weighing 14.6 gram (inclusive of ribbon), in near extremely fine condition.
