Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Grand Duchy. A War Service Cross, II Class with Miniature
(Kreuz für Auszeichnung im Kriege II. Klasse). Instituted 11 August 1914 by Grand Duke Adolph Friedrich VI. (1916-1918). Constructed of a silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed monogram of Grand Duke Adolph Friedrich IV, the six o’clock arm bearing an institution date of “1914”, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of “TAPFER UND TREU” (“BRAVERY AND LOYALTY”), the suspension loop bearing an illegible mark, measuring 44.59 mm (w) x 46.32 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams, in near extremely fine condition; accompanied by a miniature, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension, unmarked, measuring 15.26 mm (w) x 16.87 mm (h), weighing 1.7 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
