In Gold, a white enamelled Maltese Cross with crowned griffins in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presents a Wendish crown on a blue enamelled field, surrounded by a red enamelled ring inscribed PER ASPERA AD ASTRA (Through hardships to the stars), reverse medallion presents the royal monogram FF on a blue enamelled field, the badge is surmounted by a crown suspension, measures 15.7mm (w) x 25.40mm (h – inclusive of suspension ring), weighs 2.5 grams, small flake to blue enamel on the obverse medallion, otherwise in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Order was jointly founded by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Grand Duke Frederick William of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and was conferred upon citizens who rendered meritorious civil and military service to the House.
