Mecklenburg-Strelitz. A Cross for Distinction in War, Second Class
(Kreuz für Verdienst im Kriege, II Klasse). Issued 1916-1924. A Maltese cross constructed of silvered bronze; the obverse with a circular central medallion depicting the crowned royal cipher of Grand Duke Adolph Friedrich VI within a laurel wreath that is tied together at the base via a ribbon; the reverse with a circular central medallion inscribed “TAPFER UND TREU” (German - BRAVE AND LOYAL), also within a wreath as the obverse; on a double loop for suspension, with a correct replacement ribbon; measuring 39.91 mm (w) x 44.23 mm (h); weighing 18.8 grams; in overall near very fine condition.
