Nassau. An Order of Adolph, IV Class Badge, Miniature, c.1880
(Orden Adophs von Nassau, Ritterkreuz). Instituted 1858. In silver with ball finials, obverse centre in gilt with stylized royal cypher A, crowned on white enameled background, blue enamel surround with gilt laurels and Virtute motto, reverse centre in gilt with the inscriptions ""1292"" (the year that Adolf of Nassau-Weilburg was crowned as King of the Romans) and ""1858"" (the year of creation of the order by Adolphe, Duke of Nassau), in gilt letters on a white-enameled background, measuring 14.81 mm (w) x 15.64 mm (h - inclusive of integral suspension ring), 1.4 grams, with minor period enamel contact, toned silver, very fine.
