A silver gilt cross pattee, obverse presents a crowned F cypher surrounded by the inscription EIN GOTT EIN RECHT EINE WAHRHEIT (One God, One Law, One Truth), the reverse presents the Oldenburg Coat of Arms inside a crowned curtain, the badge is surmounted by a royal crown suspension, measures 35.12mm (w) x 57.58mm (h), weighs 20.1 grams (including ribbon), worn on original ribbon, dark patina, in overall very fine condition.
Footnote: The Order was instituted by Grand Duke Paul Friedrich August of Oldenburg in commemoration of his father, Duke Peter Friedrich Louis. It was conferred in recognition of both civil and military merit. A total of 725 of this House and Merit Order of Peter Frederick Louis, Knight’s Cross First Class awarded. The Order became obsolete in 1918 when the last Grand Duke of Oldenburg renounced the throne.
