Oldenburg, Grand Duchy. A Red Cross Medal
(Rote Kreuz Medaille). Instituted 10 August 1907 by Grand Duke Friedrich August. (1907-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of an oval ring surrounding a central monogram of Grand Duke Friedrich August set over a hollow background, the obverse topped by a white enameled medallion bearing a red Geneva Cross, with an loop emanating from the reverse of the medallion retaining an original ribbon, the reverse stamped with a silver content number of “950”, measuring 26.85 mm (w) x 40.79 mm (h), weighing 6.9 grams, demonstrating minor flecking and tarnishing to the enamels and base metal respectively, in near extremely fine condition.
