Prussia, Kingdom. A Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, Grand Cross Miniature, c. 1916
(Roter Adlerorden Großkreuz Miniatur). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Frederick William II of Prussia. (1861-1918 Issue). Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, presenting as a Maltese Cross with white enamel arms, each connected by a red enamel stylized Brandenburg eagle (“Brandenburgischer Adler”), central medallion with raised Gold monogram of King Frederick William II of Prussia inside blue enamel ring with motto of “SINCERE ET CONSTANTER” (“Sincerely and Steadfastly”) in gold text, reverse presents with central Gold medallion inscribed with class institution date of “18. Okt. 1861” (“18 October 1861”), on loop for suspension, unmarked, measuring 19 mm (h) x 18 mm (w) and weighing 3.3 grams, minor flecking of white enamels on obverse arms but presents in otherwise extremely fine condition.
