Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Crown, II Class Cross in Gold, by Gebrüder Friedländer
(Königlicher Kronen-Orden, II. Klasse in Gold). Instituted 18 October 1861. (1869-1916 issue). Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a Gold frame and white enameled arms highlighted in gilt, the obverse with a central gilt medallion bearing a raised crown, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD IS WITH US”) and arabesques, the reverse with a central gilt medallion bearing a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring, maker marked between the three and six o’clock arms “FR.” for Gebrüder Friedländer, Berlin, measuring 51.41 mm (w) x 55.97 mm (h), weighing 19.4 grams, with minor oxidation evident to the gilt features, in addition to an enamel chip on the reverse nine o’clock arm, in overall near extremely fine condition.
