(Roter Adler Orden, III. Klasse in Gold mit der Schleife und Etui). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1854-1918 issue). Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, with Gold swords set through the centrepiece, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing a hand-painted crowned Brandenburg eagle, the reverse with an analogous central white enameled medallion bearing a gilt monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original ribbon with a bow tie and button attachment, maker marked on the side of the central medallion “H. & S.” for the firm of Humbert & Sohn, Berlin, with the mark partially obscured by one of the sword hilts, measuring 37.89 mm (w) x 42.48 mm (h), weighing 16.8 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior, the interior with a padded black satin lid liner, with a depressed and slotted black velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 90 mm (w) x 58 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), with some material fatigue evident to the case, otherwise in extremely fine condition.
