Prussia, State. A Pair of Prussian Field Marshal Shoulder Boards, c.1870
(Generalfeldmarschall schulterklappen). A pair of shoulder boards, each constructed of a single row of fine silver bullion wire, interlaced with black threading, in a chevron formation, flanked by a row of fine gold-coloured bullion wire in a thatched pattern on either side, the bullion wrapped around yellow support cords, in an interlocking weave pattern, the neck end of each with a loop for placement upon a uniform button, large die struck silver crossed batons at the centre of each, denoting the wearer’s rank of Field Marshal, red wool backing, reverse shows illegible manufacturer’s stamps, a navy blue tongue sewn on to each, measuring approximately 63 mm (w) x 150 mm (l), slightly worn, in extremely fine condition, and very scarce.
