(Roter Adler-Orden Kreuz 1. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792. Type IV “Long Wings Type.” (Issued 1854-1918). A Gold cross pattée with white-enamelled arms, the obverse centre presents a white enamelled medallion depicting a Brandenburg crowned eagle, the reverse presents the royal cipher of Friedrich Wilhelm surmounted by the Prussian crown, marked with an unofficial engraving of the number “12183” on top of the one o’clock arm, measuring 57.80 mm (w) x 62.07 mm (h), weighing 28.5 grams, on flat loop for suspension from period replacement sash, and in extremely fine condition.
