Prussia, State. A Red Eagle Order, IV Class Cross, with Case, by R. Zeich, c.1900
(Roter Adler-Orden Kreuz 4. Klasse). Type IV Model Long Wings Type and Stippled Arms. (Issued 1879-1918). A silver cross pattée with stippled arms, the obverse centre presents a white enamelled medallion depicting a Brandenburg crowned eagle, the reverse centre engraved with a crowned cipher of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, maker marked “Z” for R. Zeich of Berlin on the bottom of the six o’clock arm, measuring 38.62 mm (w) x 42.13 mm (h), weighing 17.2 grams, enamel chipping on obverse, on loop for suspension from period replacement ribbon, and in good condition. Accompanied by period original hard-shelled case of issue, with recessed medal bed, measuring 54 mm (w) x 67 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), and in very fine condition.
