(Königliche Kronen-Orden 3. Klasse). Instituted on 18 October 1861. Type II. (1867-1918 Issue). A Gold cross pattée with white enamelled arms, the obverse centre presents a central medallion depicting the Royal Prussian crown, surrounded by a light-blue enamelled ring, bearing the inscription GOTT MIT UNS (GOD WITH US) in gilt lettering, the reverse centre presents the royal cipher of King Wilhelm I, surrounded by a light-blue enamelled ring, inscribed DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861 (THE 18TH OF OCTOBER 1861), maker mark W, on bottom of six o’clock arm, for Johann Wagner & Sohn of Berlin, measuring 42.96 mm (w) x 47.16 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original non-combatant ribbon, and in overall extremely fine condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
