A Model 1895 Prussian Guard Regiment of Foot Enlisted Man’s Pickelhaube Plate
This is an extremely well preserved Pickelhaube plate belonging to an Enlisted Man of the Prussian 2nd, 3rd & 4th Guard Regiment of Foot (Garde-Regiment zu Fuß). It is skillfully crafted of stamped fire gilded brass with a silver center plaque. A banner reaches from one wing to the other with the inscription “Mit Gott für Koenig und Vaterland/With God for King and Country”. The center plate carries the inscription “Sum Cuique/Jedem das Seine/To each his own”. The reverse features the remnants of two screws to where the plate was attached to the Pickelhaube, as well as two loops with squared nails in them to keep the center plaque in place. This Pickelhaube plate shows scattered signs of wear and age, but it is overall extremely fine preserved. (C:104)
