Germany, Imperial. An 1813 Iron Cross I Class, Cloth Version, Centenary Example
(Eisernes Kreuz 1813 I. Klasse, Stoffausführung). Constructed of black wool with a dark green wool core and white cotton backer, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse trimmed with a silver aluminum flat wire border comprising the frame of a traditional Iron Cross, surrounding an additional length of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping which effectively recreates a ribbed frame, the black wool core presenting plain, unmarked, measuring 42 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), a high-quality cloth centenary piece in near extremely fine condition.
