Germany, Prussia. A General Honour Decoration, II Class, with Case
(Allgemeines-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse). Instituted 18 January 1810 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1810-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT” (“SERVICE TO THE STATE”), the reverse bearing a monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, measuring 39.20 mm in diameter, weighing 23.1 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded black rayon lid liner and depressed black velvet medal bed, opening with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 50 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in overall near extremely fine condition.
