Prussia, Kingdom. A Hohenzollern Medal for Combatants 1848-1849
(Hohenzollern Denkmünze für Kämpfer 1848-1849). Instituted 23 August 1851 by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1849 issue). Constructed of bronze, the obverse with a raised depiction of the House Order of Hohenzollern, the reverse with a central inscription of “FRIEDRICH WILHELM IV” within dates “1848-1849”, circumscribed by an inscription of “SEINEN BIS IN DEN TOD GETREUEN KRIEGERN” (“EVEN IN DEATH, FAITHFUL WARRIORS”), unmarked, measuring 29.89 mm in diameter, weighing 14.3 grams, in better than very fine condition.
