A Merit Cross for War Aid, (Verdienstkreuz für Kriegshilfe) Instituted 5 December 1916. A Maltese cross paty constructed of a non magnetic metal, the obverse centre bears the crowned cipher “WR” (Wilhelm Rex), the reverse centre bears the inscription “FÜR KRIEGSHILSDIENST” (FOR WAR AID SERVICE), with a loop for suspension, on a white, red and black striped ribbon, measuring 40.91 mm (w) x 40.84 mm (h), very fine.
A Merit Cross for War Aid Document to Belegwaghensekretär Ehlert, on cream coloured paper. The document is dated 1 February 1918 and signed. Presenting a single folding crease, some creasing and scuffing at the edges. The reverse is taped at the top in one place. Measuring 206 mm (w) x 160 mm (h), very fine.
