Prussia, State. A Royal Order of the Crown in Gold, Third Class, with Genfer Cross
(Königliche Kronen-Orden III. Klasse mit dem Genfer Kreuz). Issued 1872-1874. A gold cross pattee with white enameled arms, along with a red and white enameled Genfer cross attached to the top of the twelve o’clock arm; the obverse with a circular central medallion depicting a Royal Prussian crown, surrounded by a blue enameled ring, inscribed “GOTT MIT UNS” (German - God with us) in matching gilt lettering; the reverse with a circular central medallion depicting the royal cipher of King William I, surrounded by a similar blue enameled ring, dated “DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861” (German - The 18th of October 1861); on a loop for suspension from a correct replacement ribbon; marked “W” for “Johann Wagner & Sohn, Berlin” on the bottom of the six o’clock arm; measuring 41.24 mm (w) x 41.40 mm (h); 11.6 grams; in overall better than extremely fine condition.
