Prussia. A Royal Houseorder of Hohenzollern, Knight’s Cross with Swords, by Godet & Sohn
1916-1918 issue. (Königlicher Hausorden von Hohenzollern). Constructed of silver gilt and fine blue, green, black, and white enamels; with a fine crown suspension; cross pattée with arms in rounded ends with white-black white-alternating enamels; with gilded crossed swords and a green enameled oak leaf wreath between the arms; the obverse with a black enameled eagle in a white enamel center medallion, surrounded by a blue enameled ring circumscribed “Vom Fels zum Meer” (From the mountain to the ocean); the reverse with a white enameled center medallion with the crown cipher, surrounded by a blue enameled ring circumscribed “Den 18 Januar 1851” (The 18th January 1851); maker marked “J.G.u.S” for “J Godet & Sohn, Berlin” and “938” for silver content; on a swivel crown for suspension with a correct replacement ribbon; measuring 36.96 mm (w) x 56.83 mm (h); weighing 22.1 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
