Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of St. John, Knight of Honour Cross in Gold
        (Ritterorden St. Johannis vom Spital zu Jerusalem Kreuz der Ehrenritter). Instituted 23 May 1812 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1852-1918 issue). Constructed of Gold with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms set within a Gold frame, joined together through the quadrants by crowned and black-painted Prussian angles with the Gold base visible through the heads, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a pebbled fan suspension perforated with an eyelet which retains a suspension ring and period original full length of neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 57.45 mm (w) x 57.16 mm (h), weighing 20.7 grams, with some flecking visible to the enamels and two spots of careful enamel repair to the three o’clock arm, in near extremely fine condition.
