A Merit Cross for War Aid, (Verdienstkreuz für Kriegshilfe) Instituted 5 December 1916. A Maltese cross paty constructed of a non magnetic metal, the obverse centre bears the crowned cipher “WR” (Wilhelm Rex), the reverse centre bears the inscription “FÜR KRIEGSHILSDIENST” (FOR WAR AID SERVICE), with a loop for suspension, on a white, red and black striped ribbon, measuring 41.96 mm (w) x 41.90 mm (h), very fine.
A letter to Mr. Hermann Hake from the district administrator in regards to his awarding of the Merit Cross for War Aid, on thin cream coloured paper. Dated 6 February 1920 and signed. Presenting four folding creases with severe creasing throughout and scuffing and tearing at edges. Measuring 207 mm (w) x 164 mm (h), good.
