Prussia, Kingdom. A 1914 Olympic Competition Medal
Instituted 1914 by King WIlhelm II. A circular medal constructed of bronze, the obverse centre bears the right facing portrait of King Wilhelm II, with a crowned “W II” cipher to the right, encompassed by a thin ornate border, the reverse centre bears the inscription “DEM SIEGER IM OLYMPIA PRÜFUNGSKAMPF” (THE WINNER IN THE OLYMPIA EXAMINATION FIGHT) with a laurel sprig below, circumscribed with “DEUTSCHER REICHSAUSSCHUSS FÜR OLYMPISCHE SPIELE” (GERMAN REICHS COMMITTEE FOR OLYMPIC GAMES), encompassed by a pearled border, measuring 50.53 mm, very fine.
