(Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen). Instituted 1810. (1895-1917 Issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, obverse inscribed “VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT” (“Meritorious Service to the State”) surrounded by laurel wreath tied at the base with ribbon, reverse bears monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, unmarked, measuring 39 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition, includes period original case, constructed of red cardstock, with notched golden border trim, lined interior lid finishing as hinge cover, slotted felt medal bed, exterior magnetic metal clasp meeting magnetic metal hook for secure closing of case, in near extremely fine condition.
