(Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen). Instituted 18 January 1810 by Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1847-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a monogram of Friedrich Wilhelm III topped by a royal crown, the reverse with an inscription of “VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT” (“SERVICE TO THE STATE”) inside of a laurel wreath, measuring 39.27 mm, weighing 23.1 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
