(Verdienst-Ehrenzeichen für Rettung aus Gefahr). Instituted 1 February 1833 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1833-1864 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, circumscribed by name and title and topped by a star indicating a first pattern award, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR RETTUNG AUS GEFAHR” (“FOR RESCUE FROM DANGER”), situated within a circular oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 25.82 mm in diameter, weighing 6.8 grams, in extremely fine condition.
