Prussia, Kingdom. A Prussian Battle of Waterloo Medallion, c.1820
(Schlacht bei Waterloo Erinnerungsmedaille). Constructed of silver, obverse bears a raised Prussian eagle and inscription of “Paris”, reverse bears partial inscription of “DEM KÖNIGE TREUE, DEM VATERLANDE ANHÄNGLICHKEIT, DER ARMEE SORGFALT” (“The Faithful King, the Loyal Fatherland, the Diligent Army”), the edges are inscribed with the names of Prussian generals of the Waterloo Campaign (“von Blücher, von Gneisenau, von Scharnhorst”), most of the reverse inscriptions have been worn smooth and are illegible, presents in an otherwise near very fine condition.
