Prussia, Kingdom. An 1813 War Merit Medal for Combatants
(Kriegsdenkmünze für Kämpfer 1813). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period correct replacement ribbon, the obverse with an Iron Cross bearing a date of “1813” inside of a laurel and oak leaf wreath, with sun rays emanating from the arms of the cross, the reverse with a central monogram of Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm, topped by a royal crown and above an inscription “PREUSSENS TAPFERN KRIEGERN” (“PRUSSIA’S BRAVE WARRIORS”), circumscribed by an inscription of “GOTT WAR MIT UNS, IHM SEY DIE EHRE” (“GOD WAS WITH US, TO HIM THE HONOUR”), with an inscription along the edge reading “AUS EROBERTEM GESCHÜTZ” (“FROM CAPTURED CANNON”), unmarked, measuring 29.13 mm in diameter, weighing 15.7 gram, in near extremely fine condition.
