Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Crown, IV Class with Geneva Cross
(Der Königliche Kronen Orden, Kreuz IV. Klasse mit dem Genfer Kreuz). Instituted 18 October 1861 by King Wilhelm I. (1872-1874 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse with a central medallion bearing a raised royal crown, within a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD IS WITH US”) and arabesques, the twelve o’clock arm overlaid by a red and white enameled Geneva Cross, the reverse with a central medallion bearing a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, within a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 41.76 mm (w) x 46.24 mm (h), weighing 15.1 grams, some flecking of enamels evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
