(Preußische Rote Adlerorden II. Klasse). Instituted on 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. Type IV. (1854-1918 Issue). A cross pattée with four arms in gilded silver and white enamels, the obverse with a circular enamelled medallion depicting a hand-painted Brandenburg crowned eagle, the reverse with the crowned cipher of King Friedrich Wilhelm, marked on base with 938 for silver content, also presented a hand-etched letter V on the base, measuring 47.48 mm (w) x 47.69 mm (h), weighing 26.5 grams, on a double-looped suspension from a period original neck ribbon, a fine example with heavy loss of gilt, but in otherwise overall extremely fine condition.
