(Roter Adlerorden). Instituted on 12 June 1792 by Friedrich Wilhelm II. (Issued 1854-1918). A four pointed silver star composed of multiple individual rays, obverse with a cross pattée enameled in white, with two golden swords crossed through the central medallion, the obverse central disc bears a red eagle on a white enamel background, surrounded by a white enamelled ring bearing the motto “SINCERE ET CONSTANTER,” adorned with separately applied gilded oak leaves, the reverse presents a vertical pinback, marked “S” above catch and "W" below catch denoting manufacture by Wagner in Silver, measures 79.67 mm (w) x 79.26 mm (h), weighs 71.6 grams, and in near extremely fine condition.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
