Reuss, Kingdom. A Medal of Merit of the Princely Reuss Cross of Honour, c.1900
(Verdienstmedaille zum Fürstlich Reußischen Ehrenkreuz). Instituted 24 May 1869 by Prince Heinrich XIV of Reuss-Gera (Reuss Younger Line). A circular medal constructed of bronze gilt, the obverse centre bears the crowned cipher “HR” (for Prince Heinrich), the reverse bears the inscription “Fur Verdienst” (For Merit) encompassed by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the bottom, measuring 33.09 mm (w) x 37.76 mm (h), with suspension ring on a deep red ribbon, very fine.
