Reuss, Principality. A Golden Merit Medal of the Princely Honour Cross, with Swords
(Goldene Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern zum Fürstlich Reußischen Ehrenkreuz). Instituted 25 May 1869 by Prince Heinrich XIV. (1909-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a raised central monogram of Prince Heinrich XIV, within a pebbled border, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”) in Fraktur script, within a raised circular laurel leaf wreath, the twelve o’clock position with an integral loop connecting to a crossed sword clasp, in turn bearing a suspension loop, unmarked, the medal measuring 35.95 mm in diameter, the swords measuring 35.95 mm (w) x 12.56 mm (h), weighing 19.8 grams overall, in near extremely fine condition.
