Saxe-Altenburg, Duchy. A Bravery Medal in Bronze with Miniature
(Tapferkeitsmedaille in Bronze mit Miniatur). Instituted 20 February 1915 by Duke Ernst II. (1915-1918 issue). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised Cross Pattée, overlaid by a Saxon coat of arms, flanked by a date of “1914”, the reverse with a raised monogram of Duke Ernst II, unmarked, measuring 31.13 mm in diameter, weighing 15.5 grams, accompanied by its miniature, of identical construction and composition, measuring 16.36 mm in diameter, weighing 2.8 grams, in overall extremely fine condition.
