(Herzog Carl Eduard Medaille). Instituted 6 August 1906 by Carl Eduard. (1906-1911 issue). Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of a rightward-facing profile of Carl Eduard circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central coat of arms of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, flanked by lions rampant, topped by a royal crown and an inscription of “FUER VERDIENST” (“FOR MERIT”), above an inscription of “TREU UND BESTÆNDIG” (“LOYAL AND STEADY”), measuring 35.43 mm in diameter, weighing 25.9 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in better than very fine condition.
