Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Kingdom. An Honour Cross for Art and Science, 1906-1918 Versin
(Verdienstkreuz für Kunst und Wissenschaft, 1906-1918). Constructed of gilt bronze with green enamel, presenting as a Maltese Cross join through the arms by stylized green enamel oak leaves, the obverse depicting raised profile of Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, circumscribed by title, the obverse with central inscription reading “FÜR KUNST UND WISSENSCHAFT” (“FOR ART AND SCIENCE”) within an oak leaf wreath, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 33.68 mm (w) x 33.59 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
