A Saxe-Ernestine House Order in Gold; Grand Cross Set of Insignia

(Sächsischen Herzogtümer) Grand Cross set of insignia, comprising: Cross, in 18Kt. solid Gold and enamels, 71.5mm (x 109mm including crown suspension), it weighs 50.1 grams, unmarked, of very fine quality manufacture, crown finely hand chiseled, one slight enamel flake on bottom obverse arm, otherwise near mint; Star, in silver, silver gilt, center applique in Gold and enamels, 82mm x 82mm, of multi piece construction, one small enamel flake on the bottom arm, otherwise extremely fine condition; with full length of original watered silk sash ribbon. Gold insignia was awarded from mid-Nineteenth Century until 1917. During 1890-1913 period 226 Grand Cross sets awarded. Excellent quality set of insignia, circa 1900 period manufacture, scarce set of insignia, and very attractive.
