Saxe-Weimar, Grand Duchy. A 1914 General Honour Badge for Merit, Silver Grade, with Sword Clasp
(Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen in Silber Dem Verdienste 1914 mit Schwerterspange). Instituted 25 June 1902 by Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst. (1914-1918 issue). Constructed of zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with sword clasp, the obverse with a raised leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of “DEM VERDIENST 1914” (“FOR MERIT 1914”), within an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, the medal measuring 36.09 mm in diameter, the clasp measuring 43.30 mm (w) x 18.08 mm (h), weighing 23.9 grams overall, in near extremely fine condition.
