Saxe-Weimar, Duchy. An Order of the White Falcon in Gold, I Class Knight’s Cross with Swords
(Hausorden vom Weißen Falken Ritterkreuz I. Klasse mit Schwertern). Instituted 2 August 1732 by Ernst August I. (1815-1918 issue). Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with green enameled arms, with a central white enameled falcon on top of crossed swords, the quadrants with red enameled diamonds, the reverse with white enameled arms, with a central blue enameled medallion bearing a gilt inscription of “VIGILANDO ASCENDIMUS” (“THROUGH VIGILANCE WE ASCEND”), inside of a Gold laurel wreath topped by a royal crown, the quadrants with green enameled diamonds, the twelve o’clock arm with a stylized fan connecting to a hollow crown suspension with a loop and period original ribbon, marked 750 on ring, measuring 36.70 mm (w) x 61.07 mm (h) (inclusive of suspension), weighing 19.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.
