Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Grand Duchy. An Order of the White Falcon, II Class Knight’s Cross with Case, by Theodor Müller
(Hausorden vom Weißen Falken, Ritterkreuz II. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 2 August 1732 by Duke Ernst August; reinstituted 18 October 1815 by Grand Duke Carl August. (1902-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with a silver frame and dark green enameled arms, with a red and green enameled rhombuses completing in a fleur-de-lis set into each quadrant, the obverse bearing a raised and finely-detailed white enameled falcon with featuring highlighted in silver, the reverse with a central blue enameled oval medallion bearing a silver inscription of “VIGILANDO ASCENDIMUS” (“WITH VIGILANCE WE ASCEND”), surrounded by a silver laurel leaf wreath topped by a royal crown, the twelve o’clock arm with an integrated fan suspension connecting to a hollow silver crown, in turn topped by a suspension loop, unmarked, measuring 37.30 mm (w) x 61.21 mm (h) (inclusive of suspension), measuring 18.8 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux purple leather exterior, the interior with a padded blue satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former marked marked “TH. MÜLLER, HOFJUWELIER & ORDENSFABRIKANT, WEIMAR”), with a slotted blue velvet medal bed, opening with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 58 mm (w) x 88 mm (l) x 25 mm (h), with chipping evident to the reverse blue medallion, in overall near extremely fine condition.
