Saxon Duchies. A Rare Long Service Medal for Enlisted Personnel and Non-Commissioned Officers, II Class for 12 Years
(Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse für Unteroffiziere und Mannschaften für 12 Dienstjahre). Instituted 31 August 1913 by Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Altenburg, Duke Georg II of Saxe-Meiningen, and Duke Carl Eduard of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. (1913-1918 issue). Constructed of gilded copper bronze alloy, the obverse with a central Saxon coat of arms, circumscribed by an inscription of “TREUE DIENSTE BEI DER FAHNE” (“FAITHFUL SERVICE TO THE FLAG”), the reverse with a number “12” in Roman numerals, unmarked, measuring 29.98 mm in diameter, weighing 13.3 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.
