(Zivil Verdienstorden Komturkreuz). Instituted on 7 June 1815 by King Friedrich Augustus 1. I Model. 1891-1918 Issue. A white enameled Maltese cross with green enameled clovers in each quadrant, obverse centre features a gilt-crowned Saxon coat of arms in enamels, surrounded by the inscription “FRIED. AUG. K. V. SACHSEN D. 7. JUN. 1815” (FRIEDRICH AUGUST KING OF SAXONY, 7 JUNE 1815) on a white enamel field, reverse centre presnets the four-line inscription “FÜR VERDIENST UND TREUE” (“FOR MERIT AND FAITH”) over white enamel and a golden border, the outer surround contains a green and red-enameled oak leaf wreath over a white enamel background and golden border, maker marked S on 6 o'clock arm denoting G.A. Scharffenberg, Dresden, measuring 61.33 mm (w) x 85.12 mm (h - inclusive of imperial crown), weighing 64.2 g, with enamel loss on both obverse and reverse centres, on elongated suspension loop from period original green-and-white ribbon, and in near very fine condition.
